Jeff McClain signs with Three Rivers (MO) JC

Class of 2007 Ballerz standout Jeff McClain has signed with Junior College powerhouse Three Rivers (MO) to continue his athletic and educational career. McClain, a 6'6 F from Fulton Co HS (Fulton City, KY), will be a highly sought after Division 1 prospect after 2 years at Three Rivers. McClain was the second leading scorer, and leading rebounder on last summer's Ballerz Elite 17u squad that set a program record with 40 wins. Jeff is not only an outstanding basketball player, but also a great kid, who will be an outstanding player at the next level. Congrats again to Jeff!!

Ken Bingham also inks with Three Rivers (MO) JC

3 year Ballerz standout Ken Bingham, who was receiving heavy interest from High Major schools accross the South and East, has signed with Juco power Three Rivers (MO) CC to join AAU teammate Jeff McClain. Ken will flourish at Three Rivers, and could be at the High Major level in two years after he takes care of his business at the Missouri Juco power. Ken was an absolute joy to coach, and was as selfless and a team player as any to have ever come through the Ballerz program. A lock down defender and a great scorer, Ken will have an outstanding career at the next level, and we wish him the best of luck!!

Reginald Delk to transfer to Louisville!!!

Former Ballerz standout and 2 year starter at Mississippi State Reginald Delk has decided to transfer to the powerhouse Louisville Cardinals and coach Rick Pitino. Delk, whose uncle Tony won a National Championship under Pitino at Kentucky, will be a perfect fit in the uptempo Louisville offense. I will have links posted with more information within the next day or two...

Jewuan Long wins Mr. Basketball, Sain State MVP

After leading Liberty Tech (Jackson, TN) to a second straight state Championship, Ballerz Class of 2007 stars Jewuan Long and Josh Sain raked in some hardware as well. Jewuan Long became the 5th Midstate Baller in the last 6 years to win the Mr. Basketball award in Tenessee, joining Barry Stewart, Marquis Weddle, Nicchaeus Doaks, and DeMarco Polk. Congrats to Jewuan, who is the quinesential winner!! Meanwhile teammate Josh Sain, fresh off 34 points in the championship game, won State Tourney MVP, following Long's 2006 MVP title. Sain, who recently picked up an offer from Alabama, among others, has become one of the most sought after wings in the South. Congrats to both outstanding players!!

Kevin Smith commits to Richmond!!!

Class of 2007 star Kevin Smith has ended his recruitment and committed to the Richmond Spiders of the Atlantic 10 conference. Kevin, a 6'5 G from Riverdale HS in Murfreesboro, TN, is one of the biggest sleepers in the State, one that many Mid Majors missed on early, but is clearly a great get for the Spiders. Congrats to Kevin, who is one of the best kids and hardest workers ever to come through the Ballerz program!!!

Ballerz 16u Blue win 2007 Riverdale Classic!!!

The 2007 Summer circuit got underway for the Midstate Ballerz program this past weekend with the annual Riverdale Hoops Classic in Murfreesboro, TN. While working out the kinks and trying to develop chemistry this early in the season, the Ballerz also had a very successful run in the tourney in all age groups..

The Ballerz 16u Blue finished 5-0, and came back from a 22 point defecit in the championship game to capture the tourney title. With a talented 15 man roster, the Ballerz 16 Blue got great contributions from each, and were led in scoring by F's Derrick Walker (Covington) and Jim Murphree (Franklin-Simpson, KY).

The Ballerz 17u Blue advanced to the championship game, and could not overcome a dreadful first half, and fell to 4-1 on the season. The Ballerz 16u White and Ballerz 15u both advanced to the semifinals, while the Ballerz 17u White finished 2-2 with a quarterfinal finish...

All in all, a great way to start off the season for the young Ballerz squads...
